Cambodia Gambling Halls
December 27th, 2024 by Kyla

There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino wagering is not legal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slots and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel compound that contains a number of amenities in addition to the gambling den, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight table games.
